Getting older
The older you get, the more you realise that all solutions come to those who are willing to wait. Although it seems to become a pattern, how the easy pleasure of anticipation often changes quickly into the burden of expectation and a lot of fear. Weight and self fulfilling patterns.
On the bright side, going to watch Perlman conduct tomorrow, Tchaikovsky's 5th. My most favourite of all time. One of the few first movements that can make me cry...and we're sitting in row B! So we get to see everything up close, finally one of the great musicians I've seen recently, besides Bell and Yefim Bronfman. Missed out on Isaac Stern and Rostropovich in my lifetime, sadly. CSO was amazing, the strings really have a soft cushioned landing, even on the forte-s, and they really have a unified sound. Unlike some ensembles with audible stragglers. Learning the Brahms Sonata now...it's a good piece.
